Conscious material implementation and the way in which specific mediums amalgamate upon application are significant to my creative practice. It is an awareness of material thinking, by conducting streams of mindfulness and re-evaluation in the context of environmental concerns and conceptual ideas that can be composed through the process of ecological awareness.
My work also explores plant/human hybridity within the scope of post-humanism, mystics and the otherworldly. It is immersed in representing organic human forms such as the internal structures of the heart. The intention of combining ephemeral and ethically sourced plant and earth matter, along with permanent recycled metals such as copper, is to create a narrative of the cohabitation between two opposing materials to address issues of the Anthropocene by signifying the sculpture as an archaeological object warped between a time of ancient futurism. I have created a peculiar representation of a living heart both naturally and industrially, divided but functioning together as one through the possibility of cohabitation. My work expresses a desire for the protection of our natural world, however it correspondingly progresses through our industrial world ethically. This work is intended to be a ritual object, indicative of a votive offering that can be spiritually obtained by higher powers in the fulfilment of this desired vow for the protection of our natural world.
