The psychology of colour gives us an insight into how different colours influence human behaviours, and advertisers use this knowledge in order to manipulate their prospective customers.

We know that, in particular, large food companies use colour to evoke emotional responses. They use colour cleverly to influence people’s decision-making behaviours.

My series is a playful response to this. I have styled my images – the fashion, makeup and locations – around the colours red, green, yellow, purple etc. in order to emulate the emotions and the feelings that those colours communicate. Using self-portraiture, I have mimicked the scenarios that companies use to draw us in to buying their products..
