Time has felt like it has slowed down during the Coronavirus pandemic. With restrictions being put into place and our everyday life completely changing, we’re spending more time than ever at home and with our families. Stage four lockdown has served as the perfect opportunity for me to focus on documenting my family and my childhood home.

My project consists of a combination of candid and staged photographs, all of which set out to depict everyday moments in the lives of my family. It was influenced by the discovery of two boxes of lost family photos at the start of lockdown. As we looked through them I considered how few photographs there were of my parents and grandparents growing up. Images of the renovations of our home brought up associations with memory and change. This highlighted the importance of documenting our family today, with references to food and my garden symbolising family traditions and our farming background. The final project is presented in a book in the style of a modern family album.
