My practice methodology involves experimental and diverse scanography to create digital collages. I engage in the art of consideration and collection of female imagery to generate these layered compositions. Narratives are created through textural layering and blurring to explore the way identity is a malleable construct that can be easily manipulated. An image can be unmade and remade, and here I use image-making to interrogate repressions of female individuality, glimpsing beneath the mask that can shield and conceal our true nature. Personal lived experience as a young woman encountering the paradox of identity has inspired my works, leading me to be enthralled by the multiplicity of personas women retain. I bring collected imagery together with a personal narrative, allowing further depth and emotion. I am exploring the side women conceal from others, and on the contrary the side they unveil to others, often resulting in a conflict of identity as they wrestle with the contrast between their inner psyche and the self produced by shared cultural imagination. I aim to make images that are both contemplative and reflective of these ideas and concepts.
