My project explores the ever-changing relationship between mothers and their daughters, acknowledging its joys while paying respect to its difficulties.

This series was heavily influenced by my relationship with my mother. Through different periods in each of our lives our bond has changed to adapt to the different experiences we were having. After spending the last six-plus months living and working together in a way we never had before, we gained a new respect for one another. This series documents families who have been in similar situations of suddenly being together more during the Coronavirus pandemic. I also wanted to create somewhat of a keepsake for families to own and by which they could remember this period in our lives.

Through photographing each mother and daughter(s) in the manner of a traditional family photograph, and including a ‘love letter’ from the mothers to their child(ren), each story is told through my own (photographer’s) eyes but also through their (written) words.

This series comprises thirty images and ten letters.
