This project explores the unity of nature and objects through cell masses; more specifically the cell structures built within living things through casts of non-living material. As a cross-disciplinary student of Fine Art and Architecture, I am interested in the symbiotic relationship between these complimentary fields whilst embracing technology. Biomimicry informs the cyclic Voronoi patternation occurring throughout the forms; I use this translation of patterns in nature to organise space.
Embedded in these objects is a study of light; its ability to act as a catalyst for the divulgence of material information has the potential to transition our experience of physical reality. By carving and sanding external boundaries the internal cavities are revealed. This correlation between exterior and interior is negotiated by focusing on structural qualities. Repetition of line occurs texturally and is used as a relief from cycles of monotony.
The postal packaging is synonymous with the sending and receiving of objects and serves as a reminder of connection during a time of isolation.
At its core, this project seeks to bring together reflections on a world deeply rooted in complex structures.
