Drawing inspiration from research into video games, I can understand how they offer an opportunity to escape the distraught experience of physical isolation.

Virtual escapism as a means of traversing the confines of our current lives offers validation of the emotions experienced. In contrast to other mediums, video games force us to do more than just 'suspend our disbelief' and simply 'enjoy the ride', they compel us to become characters in new worlds and enable us to construct and experience the illusion of control. My work tries to convey how digital landscapes have provided new experiences and catered to my desire to feel in control. I extracted quotes from various texts on the psychology of video games and layered them onto my images as a way to validate those sensations.
