Lucid dreaming occurs when you are aware that you are dreaming and can recognise your thoughts and emotions as the dream happens. Sometimes you can control the lucid dream, changing the people, environment or even storyline as it takes place. In the digital age we spend a lot of time in the virtual world, a place where ease of access is primary and we can become reliant on algorithms which feed us content based on preference but often, more nefariously, the highest bidder. Social media is filtered to create a warped sense of reality and curated to fit what the application or website believes you desire.

Lucid is a collection of posts by a trio of social media users depicting their adventures documenting the curious and sometimes forbidding creatures they find along the way. It is a quip at just how ingrained digital technology is, even within our natural world, and how ludicrous it is to take the stories presented to us online as anything close to an honest representation of reality. This project works within the medium it is critiquing to highlight its absurdities and intends to prompt viewers to consider what information and content is being fed to them and think more critically about why.
