As a migrant, identity and place have always been two major themes in my work. Inspiration is found not in the presence of a homeland, but rather in its absence. One may call this nostalgic, however I use making and storytelling as an effort for fulfilment, and in order to realise the fantasied truths of a diasporic homeland.

Inspired by the charm of wastelands and rapidly developing urban landscapes, this series of work, titled The Constructed Site and its Memory, investigates the impact of urban renewal on an individual’s memory that is associated with everyday places and buildings. What interests me is the conflicting interests between individuals and the world they live in. Through my investigations, I hope to negotiate one's fragile place in this structured world.
