I Go Live 2020.
I Go Live is a series of reflections made during lockdown. Assembled from various media sources, I Go Live comprises a collection of reflective texts, screenshots of zoom classes, links to past live performance sessions and photographic memoirs that respond to the loss of communication in this time of crisis. It is a work that contemporaneously encapsulates remembrances of the past and commemorates chance and encounter. It is a means to re-establish various forms of communication through a digital presence. I Go Live substitutes the physically connected communities that existed prior to the pandemic with online, diaristic ones. Through screen, camera and phone lenses this series brings together a collection of quotidian banality – temporary moments and commonplace occurrences – in a series of images that show emergent modes of living that are specific to this time.
Spoken language is never just the words said, it incorporates the environmental and sensory elements of seeing, hearing, touching, and smelling. The series I Go Live foregrounds the dynamic motion of the momentary experience: tip-of-the-tongue phenomena.
