Covid Couture aims to encapsulate and contrast the essence of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) against an Australian lifestyle and the fashion of Summer 2020/21. The stylisation features high fashion beach-wear accompanied with the most popular accessories of the year: face masks and medical gloves. The coupling of this juxtaposition introduces an uncanniness to the recognisable Aussie summer spirit and the different Covid-normal practices and procedures lingering within our subconscious.

I was influenced by Australian responses to the pandemic, and how each state and community became divided and fragmented by the different medical advice, laws and practices considered safe and suitable when dealing with an unprecedented, unknown and dangerous disease. I chose my props from a range of virus-prevention practices as a homage to the varying responses to Coronavirus measures and the guidelines between different cultures and communities in Australia.

My photographic style as a fashion and conceptual photographer focuses on the juxtapositions and contrasts of ideals within social, political and religious themes and attitudes.
