GRAECO-AUSTRALIAN.

In this series I am exploring migration through my own experiences as a new migrant in multicultural Australia.

I am looking at how leaving Greece and having to settle down in Australia changed completely my view on the world. How the journey through those experiences gave me an impossible to get over feeling; of not ‘belonging’ in my new community, of a kind of homelessness, of being in the Third Space between two completely different worlds, and how that changed my understandings of identity, home and culture.

I have become particularly interested in how my relationship with my Mother is evolving after migrating. The person that supported me all through my life and made the difficult decision in 2012 to uproot our life to Australia, in order for me to have a better future.
