This project, titled Uncertain Spaces, explores my perceptions and memories of public space.

As a type 1 diabetic of ten years, I am interested in connecting my experiences of chronic illness as the fluctuating, often-unpredictable nature of my perceptions of space. My imagery is situated in the liminal spaces of the ubiquitous places of transition between our designated daily tasks. When we see these spaces outside of their expected function, they become uncertain, ambiguous and full of possibility. Places to project my anxieties, fears and hopes, perhaps. I have photographed my works as temporary interventions in public spaces that served in some capacity as inspiration for my imagery. Through this project I seek acknowledgement of chronic illness outside of the medical models of understanding. I am interested in how embracing experiences of fluctuating health can position us to reimagine the possibilities for how we work, rest and connect as human beings.
